This gave me chills reading this, it’s crazy how many things trigger memories or similar feelings. Im so glad you got away! The majority of gaslighting I’ve experienced came from my family, most recently in being abandoned by remaining female members when I battled postpartum depression. I was constantly denied my own reality and told that I deserved to be suffering and the abuse because I was hard to love. They manipulated me until I genuinely believed it. I’m estranged from them now and 18 months into healing. You’re absolutely right, you don’t see it until you’re out, or more that we don’t want to believe that the people we love would hurt us. Thank you for sharing! I’d love to write for you if you’d like some of my story.
